Preparation for Service
General Pest Service
Pull what you can away from the baseboards around the home. Please pick up all pet dishes, pet toys and children's toys. Clear out a space underneath sinks for technicians to have access to plumbing areas. If you would like your closets sprayed, please move your things away from the baseboards in the closets and make sure to mention it to the technician.
Attic/Crawl Space Service
Need to have access to attic or crawl space entries.
Walk around the perimeter to make sure there are no toys, pet dishes, bird feeders, cooking equipment, etc... You will also need to let the technician know of any ponds, birdbaths, edible plants, etc.
Yard Service (General Pest, Fire Ants & Fleas/Ticks)
Make sure the lawn is about 3 inches high and no taller. Walk the yard to pick up any toys, pet dishes, etc... You will also need to let the technician know of any ponds, birdbaths, edible plants, etc.
Vacuum floors thoroughly and throw bag away outside. Make sure floor is clear of clothing, toys, pet dishes, dishes, etc... If furniture is to be treated too, then please make sure furniture is cleaned off as well. You will need to make arrangements for all pets & people to be out during service and for about 4 hours after service. If you have a fish tank, it must be turned off and the top covered with a damp towel. Upon returning to home you may open doors & windows to let air out if any Odor remains. You will need to vacuum every day for two weeks for the best results. It is best to throw away bag outside each time or you can set the vacuum outside in the sun for a few hours, but this only works if it is fairly hot outside.
Follow the same instructions for General Pest Service, Attic/Crawl Space Service & Perimeter Service. It will also be very helpful for the control of carpenter ants to trim back any trees or bushes that are touching the home.
There are many different types of nuisance ants and they can be hard to control. If you have ants trailing, it is best to take a damp paper towel to wipe them up. Do not squish them or spray any chemicals, including cleaners, on their trail. It is best to wait until a professional technician identifies what type of ant you have and how best to treat.
Follow the same instructions for General Pest Service, Attic/Crawl Space Service & Perimeter Service. If you would like to take an extra step to help with scorpions we recommend a Yard Service and we also offer a weep hole service.
Weep Hole Service
This service includes dusting of all your weep holes with a waterproof dust and filling it in with copper mesh. For this you will need to make sure the technician has access to all weep holes.
We need to have access to any crawl spaces, attic entries and the perimeter of your home. Large rodent bait stations may be recommended for the perimeter of your home and if you are having a mouse problem inside, we have have small rodent bait stations to place inside your home.
We do our best to locate the dead rodent and remove it. If the dead rodent can't be located we will deodorize the area. A rat will take approximately 10 - 14 days to decay and a mouse will take approximately 5 - 7 days.
These pest are normally found in the kitchen and bathrooms. They will spread to other rooms in the home if the population gets too big. You will need to clear out all pantries, cabinets, drawers and storage areas in the kitchen. Also clear off the top of your refrigerator and pull it out away from the wall. This is their favorite place to nest due to warmth, water and food they have access to. If the problem has spread beyond the kitchen, then also clear out dresser drawers and areas you have seen them in. The more area that can be treated, the better the results. For severe infestations you might consider a PAS or ULV Service. You need to also be prepared for clean up afterwards. These roaches are carnivorous and will eat other dead roaches, so it is important to clean up any dead roaches you see and throw them away in outside trash. Egg sacs will need to be cleaned up and thrown away in outside trash as well. The egg sacs will hatch out after treatment due to the fact that the chemical can't penetrate the egg sacs.
PAS or ULV Service
This is an intensive treatment for german roaches & bed bugs, but is also good for many beetles including carpet beetles & grain beetles. It also works well for fleas, ticks, clothes moths, meal-worms, mites & more. If treating for german roaches or bedbugs, please follow those instructions as well. Arrangements must be made for pets and people to be away for 4 hours after service is complete. If you have an aquarium you can't move, then turn off the pump, place a damp towel over the top of the tank and secure a plastic garbage bag over that. Cover or seal up in an airtight container all condiment including salt, pepper, seasonings, etc... All ventilation has to be turned off, there is to be no air circulation. Upon returning, you will need to ventilate the area and turn back on ventilation units and then give it 30 minutes to 1 hour to re-enter. After ventilation is complete you may turn back on your fish tank. You will also need to use hot soapy water to wipe off surfaces where food is eaten or handled (make sure to include the handles on cabinets and the refrigerator). All exposed clothing, bath linens, bed linens, dishes, eating utensils, glasses, etc... will need to be washed before use. You will also need to mop any non-carpeted area. And lastly, vacuum thoroughly.
Keep bedding on infested beds (they will be bagged up for you to wash). Your closets must be empty. Take everything out of dressers, nightstands and other furniture near the beds. Remove all clothing, toys, boxes, etc... from bedroom floors. Place items inside plastic bags and leave in affected room. Use a shop vac with HEPA filter to vacuum floors (especially up against baseboards), furniture and inside closets, dresser drawers and night stands. Also vacuum mattresses and box springs. Seal content of vacuum in plastic bag and dispose of in outside trash. Provide access for pest control technicians. Make sure the technician has access to all closets. If possible, move bedroom furniture away from walls so there is a 3 foot space between walls and furniture. Remove wall plates from around plugs and light switches. After service wash ALL clothing, towels and other linens (preferably at the laundry mat) with hottest water possible for your laundry. This means everything! Take laundry in plastic bags, but do not place clean items back in the same plastic bags...use new ones! Throw old plastic bags in trash outside. Vacuum thoroughly after service and pay attention to cracks & crevices and up against baseboards and in furniture. Do this for 2 - 3 days and make sure to throw out contents of vacuum away outside in trash after each vacuum. For other basic instructions for this service, please see PAS or LV Service.
Repellant...The yard should be freshly mowed and the yard should be cleared of personal or pet items.
Baiting...This is a 2 part service. Please do not mow for 2 days prior to the first service and do not water the morning of 1st service. The 1st service will be an inspection, with technicians flagging mole trails. You may water but not excessively and not the morning of 2nd service. Do not mow during this period as well. 2 days later he will return to check and bait active trails with Talpirid®. Wait at least 2 more days before mowing, but water as usual. Please read the information on moles. This is a service with no warranty. Why no warranty? We can not know for sure if bait was taken. We can not be sure how many moles are using those trails. We can not be sure new moles have not infested the trails. We will however show you how to do this yourself and you can purchase the bait directly from us.
Please do not mow for 3 days prior to either service. Also, please do not try to drown them out with water before either service. We use a bait product that will be put into their burrows. You will need to keep your pets away from the burrows. This is a service with no warranty. Why no warranty? Their tunnels can be tricky and we can't see underground. Pocket gophers live in a burrow system that can cover an area of 200 to 2,000 square feet. The burrows are about 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 inches in diameter; feeding burrows are usually 6 to 12 inches below ground, whereas the nest and food storage chamber may be as deep as 6 feet. Gophers seal the openings to the burrow system with earthen plugs. Short, sloping lateral tunnels connect the main burrow system to the surface and are created during construction of the main tunnel for pushing dirt to the surface. Click HERE to read more.
